Laproscopy- this is a surgical procedure where they can remove endometriosis, cysts, adhesions, ectopic pregnancys and anything else abnormal. It is an excellent thing to do prior to starting IVF and I wish I had done it before anything else. You will have 3 incisions on your belly. Following the procedure you will have discomfort on your abdomen, you might get shoulder tip pain and some general discomfort for about a week. I always took at least 4 days off work to rest. Your anaesthetist will prescribe you some pain relief for when you get home. You can use heat packs for this procedure.

Ovarian and uterian PRP- Platlet rich plasma is when they take blood from you, they spin it in a spinner to seperate the plasma part and they use this to rejuvenate either your uterus or ovaries. If you have the ovarian PRP this has to be done Laparoscopicly. Uterus PRP can be done in the clinic and is just like a papsmear. I have had both done and have had excellent success from both. The ovarian was done prior to our last egg collection and gave us the best results of 13 cycles. I have the uterus PRP before every transfer as it as helps to thicken the uterus lining and increase the chance of implantation. I would highly recommend both of these!

Lipodial flush of tubes- done during laproscopy or hysteroscoy and ensures the tubes are patent.

Hysteroscopy- this is a test where they look inside your uterus to see if there are any issues or adhesions. If any issues they can fix then and there.

Generic testing- there is some genetic testing that can be done and there are some of these might need different protocols to assist in a pregnancy. Or some generic testing might mean you test your embryos on day 5 of culture and send off for genetic testing. This cost is around $595 per embryo but if they test abnormal then it will avoid you having a miscarriage. We did this on our very last egg collection and 3 from 5 embryos were genetically normal.

HALO test for males- this is a semen sample to see if there are high DNA damage to the sperm. If this test is high your specialist may recommend you do a TESA. This is a surgical procedure that happens the same day as egg collection where they remove the semen directly from the male testicle.

AMH- egg count, this is to see how they will dose you for your FSH medications, they might need a higher dose of you have a lower egg count. Our egg count decreases over time and with age. You are born with all of your eggs and they finish over your lifetime.

Autoimmune diseases testing - there are various testing your specialist can do to make sure you don't have any auto immune issues as this can make your body reject an embryo. They will treat accordingly of whatever diagnosis you get.

NK cells which they do during an initial laproscopy by taking a little sample of inside the uterus. If you have these they will put you on the immune protocol and also recommend you do methylfolate instead of the normal folic acid tablets.
