Day one to egg collection

Before you say one arrives print your treatment planner and put it on your fridge, get familiar with it and feel comfortable with the medications and dosing.

DAY ONE

You will get your period, your day one is full flow period either before midday or if your period comes after midday your day one is the following day. Call or email your clinic to let them know you are day 1.

DAY TWO/THREE

You will start some medications on day 2 or 3, this includes your FSH and oral medications if you are doing an immune protocol. Sometimes they also you to have a scan and blood test on this day. NOTE: the scan is an internal scan

DAY SEVEN

You will start your subcutaneous medication to stop you from ovulating. The one I have always been given is olgalutran.

DAY NINE

Another scan and blood test. NOTE: the scan is an internal scan.  Following these tests they may choose to increase or decrease your medications. They do this off how many follicles you have and what your estrogen levels is. This is also the day for me that I start to feel "full in my pelvis" and fatigued. Many people do feel nauseas and generally unwell.

During this consult they may tell you when your egg collection will be but more often you will return a few days later for another scan and egg collection will be planned on that day.

My egg collections are usually day 14-16 of my cycle.

Once your specialist has decided your egg collection day, the nurse will call you with your instructions from that day. They will advise when your last FSH and ovulation stopping medications are and they will advise you the time and date of your trigger. Your trigger times are important and must be given at the time allocated to you. The reason for this is, your eggs need 36 hours to mature, and your collection time is set for 36 hours after you have given yourself your trigger.
