Bleeding in IVF pregnancy can happen and is more common than you think. I had bleeds in all of my pregnancies including the pregnancy that brought us our daughter. I found every time I had a bleed I really spiraled into thinking the worst and did hours of research searching for stories of women who bled in pregnancy. The more I searched the more I found it is VERY common.

The common reasons can be:

- low progesterone and so inserting more progesterone and resting can improve the bleeding. This is what was recommended to me by my fertility specialist, and he also told me you cannot overdose on progesterone so rest and insert an extra one.

- subchorionic hematoma (SCH) is a common cause of bleeding in early pregnancy, it is usually diagnosed with a ultrasound and is treated with your fertility specialist if any treatment is required.

Always call the treating clinic for bleeding so they can advise you further but don't take any blood thinners if you experience bleeding until you have for advice from the clinic. Blood thinners include aspirin and clexane (which are both part of the immune protocol) will likely need to be stopped until bleeding has subsided.
